Just like others have said, an hour after owning this thing I had to change my shirt. What a shame, this is a really nice mug seems well built until it starts to leak. I wanted to be sure I didn't do something wrong before writing this. I made sure the gasket and rim was dry before closing. I verified the lid was screwed down properly and tight. One thing I noticed when it arrived was how tight the lid was put on the mug. I am not a weak person by any means and it was tough for me to get the lid off because it was soo tight. The gasket seems to be seated correctly and there are tabs to hold it in place.Do yourself a favor, unless your going to use a straw don't waste your money. If they fix the leaking issue I would change this to a 5. That's how much potential this thing has for being a great mug. ***UPDATE *** So now that I have had this for a week I need to update my review. I have updated this from 3 stars to 4 stars... I was pretty iffy about purchasing it because of all the negative comments, and all the stories of how it leaked and didn't seal for quite a few people. I went ahead and bought it anyway, and I'm glad I did. I've had it for about a week and a half now, and so far it hasn't leaked at all.I filled it up when I first got it, put the lid on, and turned it upside down. The only leaking came from the hole the cup uses to breathe while you drink. That's it. It seals perfectly for me every single time. I love this thing, and I see myself using it for a long while to come. I'll fill it up with ice and water before I head to work, and then refill it from the water cooler throughout the night--I work third shift on a dock with no air conditioning, so it's really paying off. I still have ice when I come home some ten hours later. It's also great for taking along a cold drink on a long drive in the summer with one major exception. I knew that it would not fit in any existing cup holder on the planet. I did not care about that. The top leaks, like a sieve at times. The top is so large and the o-ring is so thin. I am sure there is a better way to do it, but they missed the mark on this product. I know large tops can be designed to not leak, but they failed one and I can't imagine that they didn't know that when they released it. Oh well, the search for hydration bliss continues. |
